An origami is a construction formed uniquely by a succession of precision folds and unfolds in paper. Corinne Rochet and Nicholas Pettit, were seduced by the potential relationships which can be made between the human body and the intrinsic fragility of these paper objects. They use origami and aikido as a source of inspiration, a foundation for creating a pure choreographic base around distortion and folding.
Whether it's the costumes, the reverberation of the lights, the bodies of the five dancers on stage or the distortion of the soundtrack, it all becomes material to be stretched, retracted, contracted, material for construction or deconstruction. They thus create an imaginary space in which we find a metaphor, at the same time caustic and tender, of our society.
